DigitalOcean didn't really shine in that latest trial with their $20 2GB plan. The average response time was 73ms over 10 days.
That makes the trial slower than Linode, Vultr, Ramnode, EC2 and GCE recent tests. Worse, it's slower than the last run on DigitalOcean $10 plan.
But as usual, the setup was fast and easy and the VM was fully reliable for the entire duration of the test....
